Potted Azalea Flower Care
Potted azaleas dry quickly.
Potted azalea flower care. Water as frequently as required to keep the soil moist but not saturated. Most azalea types perform well in usda plant hardiness zones 5 through 9. Water regularly from the top and occasionally dunk the pot in a large bucket of water to let it soak up plenty of water before allowing it.
The plant should receive four to six hours of indirect sun daily. Use rainwater if possible as rainwater is less alkaline. Azalea care start with soil.
Although chrysanthemums normally flower in november newly developed methods encourage flowering all seasons of the year. Make sure that you do so when the plant is done flowering and always use a pot with draining holes. This is a good mixture for all acid loving shrubs.
The plant should never be allowed to dry out. In their natural environment azaleas live beneath tall trees. Protect your plant during the winter if needed or bring it indoors until spring.
Since the flower coverage on azaleas encompasses the entire shrub placing them in a background of conifers such as pines or other acid loving plants will help set off their colors while minimizing their heavy effect. Place the potted azalea in a cool brightly lit location near a window but out of direct sun so that you can enjoy the beautiful blooming cycle. As with outdoor azaleas potted azaleas should not be put in direct sunlight as too much sunlight could cause their blooms and leaves to turn brown and die.
Maintain daytime temperatures between 62 and 68 degrees f. Azaleas are hardy and tolerate cold but container plants are more exposed. Move the plant to a 45 to 50 degree f area for the night.
