In 1731 the king of jodhpur in rajasthan asked one of his ministers to arrange wood for constructing a new palace. In 1790 chipko movement was started by amrita devi emarti devi who refused to let the kings me. The chipko movement started in the 1970s in garhwal in uttarakhand.
